Jordan Grace Owens is an emerging multi-disciplinary artist who creates colorful compositions of expressive abstract shapes. Educated in both fine arts and graphic design with a decade long career in figurative illustration, Owens combines her experience in various areas of visual culture to create work that is visceral yet approachable; abstract and graphic but with a corporeally-rooted sensibility. Owens has spent the last few years focusing on her studio practice, exploring a fluidity of boundary and form with painted shapes that are shifting, blurring, and relational. Turning to studio work in earnest after giving birth to her two children, her work has been deeply influenced by her own surreally upended concept of physical individuality. She is fascinated by maternal subjectivity, but also a more expansive exploration of blurred boundaries: between body and object, self and society, surface and paint.
